Application Process - Health and Wellbeing Grants

Applications must follow the latest application guidelines.
Please read the guidelines first, as they outline the criteria.

Applying for a grant

There are two stages in the Large application process:

Stage 1.

Outline application for a Large Health and Wellbeing grant

(Please note there is a different application process for medical research projects.)

  • The Health and Wellbeing application form brings together basic information to enable the Trustees to confirm whether or not The Evelyn Trust is able to consider the application further. Applications need to be accompanied by a letter from the head of the organisation applying, most recent accounts and the names of two independent referees.
  • Health and Wellbeing applications may be submitted at any time up to a deadline of 5pm on 15th November.  These are reviewed by Trustees at their January meeting, and a shortlist for visits in February – April drawn up.  Grants are usually available from July.

Applicants are advised to seek an initial reaction to a possible application from the Charity Director, Rebecca Wood, at [email protected].

We have an online application system called Flexigrant.  Applicants must register for an account before they can access the form.  For help or guidance with the application process, please contact the Grants Coordinator ([email protected]).

Receipt of an application will be acknowledged.

Stage 2.

Trustees’ visit and review – more detailed supporting information

  • The Trustees and Charity Director will visit the organisation to discuss the project in the period February to April.
  • If the Trustees decide they are able to consider the project further, they may wish to extend their enquiries by requesting a detailed explanation of the work to be done, how it will be achieved and the results and outputs that are being sought, as well as more detailed financial information, annual reports and accounts, and for capital projects copies of estimates, building plans, photographs, artists’ impressions etc.
  • The extent of such additional information will vary from application to application.
  • Expert advice is available to the Trustees and the applicant may be requested to provide further information as a result of this advice.

Allocation of grants

After final consideration of the applications and visit reports at their June meeting, Trustees will allocate funding to successful applicants.  Grants should be available to beneficiaries by the end of July.

Applicants should be aware that there is a very large demand from applicants for support and, therefore, by no means can all applicants be funded.
Grants are distributed at the Trust’s discretion to selected registered charities, institutions and causes. The reasoning behind the Trust’s decisions will not be discussed with applicants.
